The licata.finish line consists of professional smoothing adhesives, with high adhesion, for the bonding and reinforced leveling of thermal insulation system panels of the licataTHERM system. The high adhesion characteristics make them ideal also as a smoothing product to uniform multiple existing substrates.
Take our Raso W160 for example. It is a fibre-reinforced skim coat adhesive intended for use with our external insulation system. It is formulated for smoothing and bonding expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation sheets and graphite EPS as well as rock wool panels found in external insulation.
Recommended applications include smoothing common substrates and bonding licataTHERM insulating panels, such as our licataTHERM EPS 100/36_CAM thermal insulation sheets. Raso W160 can be used on internal and external substrates, lime/cement plasters, clay bricks, precast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, XPS and autoclaved aerated concrete. It will also work well with old paint and other coatings that have been properly cleaned and are deemed to be well anchored to the substrate.
Raso W160 Characteristics
Licata Raso W160 demonstrates outstanding adhesive qualities. When you want a safe and durable bond on all kinds of panels W160 answers the call. It can also be used as either a skim coat or an adhesive and its smooth and consistent finish makes for easy and reliable application. In addition, because it is fibre-reinforced it will minimise cracks and fissures in the substrate and, due to its balanced grain size, you end up with a compact, fine-textured surface that is uniform from edge to edge.
About licataTHERM Sheet Insulation
While we often hear of smoothing adhesives talked about in reference to subfloor finishes, Licata smoothing adhesives are intended primarily to be used for the bonding and levelling of panels in the licataTHERM system. licataTHERM is a line of products intended for external wall and roof thermal insulation. Those products include:
licataTHERM EPS 100/36_CAM
licataTHERM EPS T 100/036_CAM is a type of thermal insulation sheet fashioned from expanded polystyrene (EPS). EPS is typically used in the walls and roof of a structure to reduce heat transfer with the outdoors. Licata EPS 100/36_CAM thermal insulation is unique in that it undergoes “detensioning” which reduces the amount of stress left over from the cutting process which, in turn, improves accuracy and reduces the amount of ancillary work necessary. Licata smoothing adhesive is used to smooth over the often abrupt and potentially leaky point where sheets of insulation come into contact with one another.
Other notable characteristics of this type of expanded polystyrene insulation include:
- It is remarkably lightweight and 100% recyclable, complying as it does with the Minimum Environmental Criteria for the reuse of raw materials as established by the Environment Ministry.
- It has excellent insulating capabilities characterised by low thermal conductivity. As such it is an ideal insulation for both interior and exterior applications.
- It also exhibits outstanding mechanical performance including noteworthy dimensional stability, high tensile strength and high mechanical strength.
- And it is remarkably durable with a high resistance to ageing, humidity and rot, which makes it a stable and long-lasting solution.
