Licata Sil is a decorative coating in transpiring potassium silicates — highly breathable, water-repellent and mould-resistant. Ideal for ETICS systems and particularly suited to use with highly transpiring insulation panels such as rock wool, wood fibre and cork. Suitable for both interior and exterior applications.
Why specify Licata Sil?
Highly Transpiring
The potassium silicate base gives Licata Sil exceptional vapour permeability — allowing moisture to pass freely through the coating. Ideal for use in dehumidifying cycles and on substrates where maximum breathability is required.
Water-Repellent
Despite its high transpiring properties, Licata Sil is water-repellent — repelling liquid water from the facade whilst allowing water vapour to pass through from within the wall.
Mould & Weather Resistant
Highly resistant to mould attack and atmospheric agents, maintaining the appearance and integrity of the facade finish over time in both sheltered and exposed conditions.
Soft, Uniform Finish
The homogeneous formulation delivers a soft, uniform decorative effect. Excellent fluidity reduces waste during application and improves workability on site.
High Adhesion Strength
Compatible with all common construction substrates. High adhesion strength ensures a durable bond across the full range of plasters, renders, skim coats and concrete substrates.
ETICS Compatible
Ideal for use on ETICS systems, particularly in combination with highly transpiring insulation panels such as rock wool, wood fibre and cork where maximum breathability is essential.
What is Licata Sil?
Licata Sil is a decorative coating in transpiring potassium silicates — a mould-resistant paste compliant with UNI EN 15824 as a decorative polymer paste. Its very high transpiring properties, combined with water repellency, make it the ideal choice for dehumidifying cycles and applications where maximum breathability is a priority.
The excellent fluidity of Licata Sil reduces waste and improves workability, whilst high adhesion strength ensures compatibility with all the most common substrates in construction. It is particularly recommended for use with highly transpiring insulation systems such as rock wool, wood fibre and cork.
Licata Sil is supplied in white and can be pigmented to a wide choice of colours from the licatacolore 2.0 chart. Suitable for covering and decorating facades of all types — indoors and outdoors — including plasters, skim coats and reinforced coatings.
