Licata Waterproofing Systems

Waterproofing Systems

Complete waterproofing systems for terraces, balconies, swimming pools, water cisterns and exposed structures — certified to UNI EN 14891 and UNI EN 1504-2.

System Specification

Certified waterproofing — from substrate to finish

Each Licata waterproofing system is a complete, tested product stack — from damp substrate primer or joint tape through the waterproofing membrane to the final tile or protective coating. Products are selected to be chemically compatible at every interface.

Systems cover cement-based and elastomeric waterproofing for a full range of applications — tiled terraces, swimming pools, water cisterns and exposed liquid membranes.

Overview

What is a waterproofing system?

A waterproofing system is a complete, tested build-up of compatible products that together form a continuous, durable barrier against water ingress — protecting the structure beneath from the damage that water and moisture cause over time. Rather than relying on a single product, a system combines a substrate primer or joint tape, a waterproofing membrane, and a protective or decorative finish, each selected to be chemically compatible at every interface.

Licata waterproofing systems cover both internal waterproofing and external protection — from cellars and basements to balconies, terraces, wet rooms, swimming pools and water cisterns. Each system forms a durable waterproof layer that resists water while, in the case of the cementitious systems, allowing the structure to breathe. Our cement-based membranes such as Hydro Monoelasto 100 offer impressive deformability and hydrophobic qualities, and are UV and chlorine resistant — ideal for swimming pools, fountains, exposed balconies and terraces.

Benefits

Why specify a Licata waterproofing system?

Certified Performance

Waterproofing membranes certified to UNI EN 14891 and concrete protection coatings to UNI EN 1504-2 — meeting recognised European standards.

Complete Systems

Every product in the stack — primer, tape, membrane, adhesive and finish — is chemically compatible at each interface for reliable performance.

Crack-Bridging

Elastic cement membranes bridge cracks and accommodate movement, even at low temperatures down to -20°C.

UV & Chlorine Resistant

Membranes such as Hydro Monoelasto 100 resist UV and chlorine — suitable for exposed surfaces and swimming pools.

Internal & External

Systems for both internal waterproofing (wet rooms, basements) and external protection (terraces, balconies, roofs).

Tiled or Exposed Finish

Finish under tiles with a deformable adhesive, or leave as an exposed, trafficable coloured liquid membrane.

Common Questions

Waterproofing systems — FAQs

What is the difference between cement and elastomeric waterproofing?
Cement-based (cementitious) waterproofing membranes are rigid-but-flexible coatings ideal for tiled terraces, pools and cisterns, applied by trowel, roller or brush. Elastomeric and liquid polyurethane membranes are more elastic and are typically used for exposed, trafficable surfaces where high movement or a seamless finish is required. The right choice depends on the substrate, exposure and finish.
Can these systems be used internally?
Yes. Licata waterproofing systems are engineered for both internal waterproofing and external protection — from cellars, basements and wet rooms internally to balconies, terraces and roofs externally.
Are the systems suitable for swimming pools?
Yes. The cement waterproofing systems based on Hydro Monoelasto 100 are UV and chlorine resistant, making them suitable for swimming pools and fountains prior to tiling.
Can you waterproof and then tile over the top?
Yes. The under-tile systems pair the waterproofing membrane with a deformable, C2TE-S1 tile adhesive (Super S1), so ceramic tiles can be laid directly over the waterproofed substrate on terraces, balconies and pools.
What certification do the systems carry?
The waterproofing membranes are certified to UNI EN 14891 (waterproofing under tiles) and the concrete protection coatings to UNI EN 1504-2. Speak to our technical team to confirm the certification applicable to your chosen system.
