Aria Apartments
A two-finish facade for apartment living in Leicester
Aria Apartments is a residential development in Leicester, delivered with a complete Licata external wall insulation system across the facade. The design splits the external envelope between two finishes: clay brick slips across part of the facade and silicone render across the rest.
Mixing finishes over one EWI system is a hallmark of modern apartment design. The clay brick slips ground the building in the brick character of its surroundings, while the rendered elevations bring contrast, lightness and clean contemporary lines, with both finishes sharing the same insulated build-up beneath.
Because both finishes are applied over one continuous system, the insulation runs unbroken across the whole facade: no cold bridging where the finishes meet, a single warranty position, and a significant reduction in heat loss through the external walls.

One EWI system, two facade finishes
Licata Building Systems supplied the complete facade package: the Licata EWI system with clay brick slips across the brick elevations and silicone render across the rendered elevations. The clay slips deliver the appearance and durability of traditional brickwork at a fraction of the weight, while the silicone render provides a breathable, water-repellent, low-maintenance finish.
