Layer-by-layer system specification

The Dehumidifying Lime System is Licata's complete specification for walls affected by capillary rising damp. It begins with Licata Injecto Gel, a chemical damp-proof cream injected into the masonry to create a horizontal moisture barrier, followed by Storica Deumidificante, a dehumidifying base plaster specifically formulated to manage residual moisture and salt migration as the wall dries out.

Once the dehumidifying plaster has cured, Raso Top Bio provides the skim coat, Siloxan LG primes the surface and Siloxan Color silicone render delivers the decorative finish, selected for its exceptional vapour permeability, which allows moisture to continue escaping from the wall after the treatment is complete.

Layer 1
Substrate
Masonry wall affected by capillary rising damp in brick, stone or block. Remove all existing plaster to expose the bare masonry before beginning treatment. Existing render must be fully hacked off.

Layer 2: Chemical Barrier
Licata Injecto Gel
Chemical damp-proof cream, injected into a horizontal line of drilled holes in the masonry to create a continuous barrier against capillary rising damp. Must be applied before any render coats and allowed to cure as specified. Contact our technical team for drilling specification and injection rates.

Layer 3: Base Plaster
Storica Deumidificante
Dehumidifying lime base plaster, specifically formulated to manage residual moisture and soluble salt migration as the wall dries following treatment. Its macro-porous structure allows moisture to evaporate and salts to crystallise within the render rather than on the decorated surface.

Layer 4: Skim Plaster
Raso Top Bio
Bio-lime skim coat applied over the fully cured Storica Deumidificante, providing the flat, smooth mineral surface for the silicone primer and finish coat. Compatible with the dehumidifying system and formulated to maintain vapour permeability.

Siloxan LG
Siloxane primer, evening out absorption across the Raso Top Bio surface and provides the ideal bonding base for the Siloxan Color silicone finish coat. Essential for uniform appearance and performance of the topcoat in a dehumidifying system context.

Layer 6: Silicone Finish
Siloxan Color
Silicone render finish: a highly water-repellent exterior topcoat with exceptional vapour permeability, anti-mould additives and low dirt pick-up. The high breathability is critical in a dehumidifying system, as it allows residual moisture to continue evaporating from the wall after treatment.
