Overview

The charm of a classical tradition

Stucco Romano is a natural lime based decorative stucco that recreates a finish with an effect similar to marble. Its formulation of lime, selected marble powder and special additives gives excellent adhesion to the substrate and a smooth flow in application, making it quick to achieve a matt or gloss finish depending on the effect required.

Stucco was originally used in high status dwellings to embellish surfaces that were otherwise plain. Over time, research into materials and application techniques refined the craft, leading to stucco being used to recreate finishes that imitate marble. Stucco Romano sits at the end of that long decorative tradition, allowing the quality of marble to be reproduced in modern interiors through the skill of the applicator.

Thanks to its natural composition, the product guarantees maximum vapour permeability and aids the diffusion of humidity through plaster and brickwork, avoiding the formation of mould and bacteria over time. It has a low odour level, is non-flammable, and is friendly to both people and the environment.

192 colours

Stucco Romano is offered in a large and carefully devised collection of colours to meet very different interior requirements. It runs from warm tones reminiscent of the classical Italian decorative tradition through to shades suited to more contemporary schemes, so the same product can enhance a richly classical room or find a restrained expression in a minimal one.

Why Stucco Romano

Key features

Natural marble effect

Lime and selected marble powder recreate the look of natural marble on the wall, with the soft colouring that brings out the character of the real material.

Matt or gloss

The same product achieves either a matt or a polished gloss finish depending on how it is worked, so the level of shine is decided on site.

Maximum vapour permeability

The natural lime composition allows humidity to diffuse through the plaster and brickwork rather than being trapped behind the finish.

Resists mould and bacteria

Because moisture moves freely through the wall, the finish avoids the conditions in which mould and bacterial colonies form over time.

Excellent adhesion and flow

The formulation bonds well to the substrate and spreads smoothly, which makes a good finish quicker to reach and more consistent across large areas.

Eco-compatible lime base

A lime putty base makes this an environmentally sound choice that also preserves the natural characteristics of the substrate it is applied over.

Applications

Classical richness or modern restraint

Stucco Romano brings richness and elegance to contemporary rooms while carrying a style inherited from a centuries-old decorative tradition. Plain, sober colours amplify the atmosphere of minimalist interiors, while warmer tones suit rooms conceived along more classical lines.

Prestige interiors. The marble effect gives walls a sense of quality that suits reception rooms, hallways and spaces intended to make an impression.
Minimalist schemes. Sober, plain shades let the texture of the surface carry the room without pattern or contrast doing the work.
Period properties. A traditional lime stucco is materially consistent with older buildings and works with the substrate rather than sealing it.
Humid rooms. High vapour permeability lets moisture pass through the wall, which matters where a sealed coating would trap it and cause problems.
