Raso TH 500 Plus

Ready-to-use polymer-based fibre-reinforced adhesive and render paste — EWI systems, facade restoration, crack-bridging, cement-free

Raso TH 500 Plus Elastomeric Adhesive Basecoat by Licata

Raso TH 500 Plus is a ready-to-use, synthetic polymer-based fibre-reinforced adhesive and render paste. Completely cement-free — it delivers exceptional elasticity, flexibility and mechanical resistance for EWI systems using EPS, mineral wool, glass wool and wood fibre insulation boards, and for the reinforced restoration of façades with microcavillations or cracks. Classified Category 2 to EN 13498 for impact resistance.

Features & Benefits

Why specify Raso TH 500 Plus?

🔧

Ready to Use — No Mixing Required

Raso TH 500 Plus comes ready to use straight from the bucket — no water addition required. Simply stir with a whisk mixer before application to soften the paste. Significantly faster to get on the wall than powder-based basecoats.

🔄

Exceptional Elasticity — Crack-Bridging

The polymer-based formulation gives Raso TH 500 Plus outstanding elasticity and flexibility — making it the specified choice for facade restoration cycles where microcavillations or hairline cracks are present and substrate movement must be accommodated.

🏅

EN 13498 Category 2 — Impact Resistance

Classified Category 2 to EN 13498 for resistance to accidental impact — making Raso TH 500 Plus ideal for low-baseboard applications and any area subject to elevated mechanical risk on the building envelope.

🌳

Suitable for Timber Frame and Deformable Substrates

Unlike cement-based adhesive renders, Raso TH 500 Plus is specifically formulated for deformable substrates — raw wood, glued laminated timber and CLT panels — where cement-based products cannot accommodate the substrate movement.

⚗️

Cement-Free — No Alkaline Attack

Completely cement-free — Raso TH 500 Plus contains no Portland cement. This eliminates the risk of alkaline attack on sensitive insulation boards and makes it fully compatible with a wider range of substrates including old coatings and organic panels.

🎨

Excellent Aesthetic Finish

With selected aggregates and a maximum particle size of 0.5 mm, the smooth finish produced by Raso TH 500 Plus can receive paint or thin decorative treatments directly — without additional preparation coats in many cases.

Declared Performance

Technical performance data

Raso TH 500 Plus is tested to Licata internal methods and EN 13498 for impact resistance classification. Key performance characteristics include specific gravity, adhesion, solid content, viscosity and VOC compliance.

Where to use Raso TH 500 Plus

EPS insulation panels
Rock wool and glass wool panels
Wood fibre insulation panels
Timber frame — raw wood, glued laminated timber, CLT
Fibre-cement panels
Pre-fabricated and cast-in-place concrete
Lime-cement base plasters and finishes
Old paint and coatings — clean, thick and well bonded

For crumbling substrates, consolidate first with Acril Primer Plus. Remove protective film from insulating sheets before bonding. For difficult substrates, perform a suitability test beforehand.

Preparation

Preparing the substrate

1
Remove all loose material: Eliminate all dust, non-cohesive or flaky parts. Clean thoroughly to remove surface treatments, oily substances, mineral or organic greases, wax, chalk and salt residue.
2
Insulation sheets: Remove the protective film from insulating sheets before bonding. The substrate must be cured — do not bond to fresh or uncured plasters.
3
Crumbling substrates: If the substrate is crumbling or unstable, consolidate the surface with a high penetration primer such as Acril Primer Plus before applying Raso TH 500 Plus.
4
Stir before use: Raso TH 500 Plus is ready to use — no water addition. Mix briefly with a whisk mixer to soften the paste before application.
Application

Applying Raso TH 500 Plus

1
Bonding insulation panels: On rough or unplastered surfaces, apply in two to three crowns at the centre and along the perimeter of the panel. On level surfaces and mineral panels (rock wool, glass wool, wood fibre), apply full-bed with a notched trowel. Adjust slabs immediately after application.
2
Smoothing — first coat: Apply evenly with a notched trowel, inserting fibreglass mesh in vertical strips overlapping joints by at least 100 mm. Embed the mesh fully into the fresh paste.
3
Smoothing — second coat: Apply with an American smoothing trowel 24–48 hours after the first coat, covering the mesh entirely to achieve approximately 4 mm total thickness.
4
Open time: Unfavourable conditions — direct sun, dry wind, high temperatures or highly absorbent screeds — can reduce open time significantly. Constantly check that a surface film does not form prematurely. Sufficient cure for successive applications after 7 days at +20°C.
Do not apply on frozen or thawing substrates. Store above +5°C away from direct sunlight. Monitor open time closely in hot, dry or windy conditions. Clean tools with water immediately after use while the product is still fresh.
