Primer Ocram is a pigmentable potassium silicate primer from Licata — a universal silicate primer made with potassium silicates and inert silica materials for exterior and interior use. This silicate primer reacts chemically with the mineral substrate through natural silicatisation, delivering outstanding adhesion. Specifically formulated for EWI systems, thermal renders and façade restoration work — it ensures even absorption of subsequent decorative coatings while maintaining the full breathability of mineral finishes.

Silicatisation — Chemical Bond with Substrate
Primer Ocram silicate primer bonds to mineral substrates through a natural chemical process called silicatisation — the potassium silicate reacts with the substrate to form an insoluble bond, rather than simply adhering mechanically. This gives the primer outstanding long-term adhesion strength.
Full Breathability Preserved
The mineral potassium silicate composition of this silicate primer preserves the full water vapour permeability of the substrate — essential when used on EWI systems and breathable mineral render finishes where trapping moisture would cause long-term damage.
Pigmentable — Tint to Match Topcoat
Primer Ocram silicate primer can be pigmented to match the subsequent topcoat — particularly valuable when painting over medium or strong existing colours, reducing the number of finish coats required to achieve full coverage and colour uniformity.
Excellent Levelling Power
High levelling properties ensure even absorption of subsequent decorative coats — maximising yield and improving the finish quality of micro-coatings and silica-based paste coatings by eliminating patchy absorption on variable or porous substrates.
Low VOC
Extremely low VOC content — less than 30g/L, well within the requirements of European Directive 2004/42/EC for primer category A/g. Safe for use in occupied buildings and sensitive environments.
Ideal for EWI and Façade Restoration
Specifically recommended for use over thermal insulation composite systems, thermal renders, lime and lime/cement renders, reinforced skim coatings and concrete — the standard substrate range encountered in façade refurbishment and new-build render specification.
Primer Ocram — Potassium Silicate Primer
Primer Ocram is Licata's pigmentable potassium silicate primer — a universal silicate primer manufactured with potassium silicates and inert silica materials. It is the recommended primer before all decoration work with micro-coatings or silica-based paste coatings on mineral substrates. The silicatisation process creates a chemical bond with the mineral substrate rather than a purely physical adhesion — resulting in outstanding adhesion strength that does not deteriorate over time.
This silicate primer is ready to use but can be diluted with water up to a maximum of 10%. Applied in a single coat by brush or roller, it reaches a suitable degree of curing for subsequent processing after just 1–2 hours at 20°C — minimising programme delays between priming and the application of decorative coatings.
Primer Ocram silicate primer is particularly valuable in façade restoration work where existing surfaces may have variable absorbency — its levelling power ensures the subsequent decorative coating absorbs evenly across the full surface, preventing patchy or uneven drying that would compromise the finished appearance.
