Stone wool insulation for render and brick slip EWI systems
Made from volcanic rock spun into fibres, stone wool gives a rigid, dimensionally stable slab that does not burn, lets water vapour pass through and resists water penetration. Supplied in two grades: the dual density slab for standard render and brick slip systems on masonry and framed substrates, and the high density slab where a firmer board is specified. Both are fixed with Licata adhesive and mechanical fixings as part of a certified Licata EWI build-up.
Non-combustible
The slab achieves Euroclass A1, the highest reaction-to-fire class. The classification of the full wall build-up is confirmed by the relevant Licata system certificate.
Dense Outer Face
A firm, even surface for the reinforced base coat that also resists over-driven fixings.
Vapour Open
Vapour resistance close to still air, with water-repellent fibres that keep liquid water out. Suited to breathable systems on solid-wall refurbishment.
Continuous Insulation
Tightly butted slabs knit together into an unbroken insulating layer, cutting heat loss through gaps.
Acoustic Improvement
Test evidence shows up to 8 dB improvement in weighted sound reduction, depending on the substrate.
Easy to Install
Standard 1200 x 600 mm format, cut with a hand saw, laid in brick bond. Thicknesses over 250 mm are built up in two layers.
Two grades to suit the system
Dual Density (DD) Slab
The standard EWI slab. A denser outer layer gives a solid face for the base coat, while the softer underside takes up unevenness in the substrate. The outer face is marked THIS SIDE UP.
