LicaCem 200 Plastering Mortar by Licata

LicaCem 200 is a polymer-modified plastering mortar based on white lime and cement, with controlled hygrometric shrinkage. It can be applied in thicknesses of 10–25 mm in a single coat — minimising cracking throughout the application, plastic phase and curing stages. Excellent workability, thixotropy and binding power. Suitable for interior and exterior use on brick, blockwork and concrete substrates.

Why specify LicaCem 200?

10–25 mm in a Single Coat

LicaCem 200 can be applied in thicknesses from 10 to 25 mm in a single coat — by hand or by machine. For thicknesses above 25 mm, additional coats can be applied waiting at least one day between each.

The special formulation of LicaCem 200 minimises the appearance of hairline cracks and splits throughout the product's life cycle — from application through the plastic phase to full cure at 28 days.

LicaCem 200 achieves A1 fire resistance classification to EN 13501-1 — the highest reaction to fire classification. Fully compatible with non-combustible EWI systems including all Licata mineral wool systems.

Classified CS III for compressive strength to UNI EN 998-1 — suitable for use as a structural plastering base and levelling coat on masonry and concrete substrates requiring a strong, stable undercoat.

Ideal Base for Thin Decorative Finishes

When smoothed with Raso Top 800, Raso W160 or Raso R140, LicaCem 200 provides an ideal substrate for thin decorative plasters, silicate and siloxane coatings, and paint systems.

Substrate Preparation

Preparing the substrate

Mechanically remove all flaking or easily detached material. Clean the surface thoroughly — free from dust, detergents, oily substances, wax, chalk and salt residue.

Concrete and smooth surfaces: pre-treat with LicaSpriz or Aggrappante LG bonding primer. Apply LicaCem 200 within 12 hours of priming.

Fill joints between bricks properly. Repair any holes or large cracks in masonry with Repair 250 N/R or Repair 450 before plastering.

Mix: add the powder to ¾ of the mixing water (4–5 litres per 25 kg bag). Mix for 3–4 minutes with a low-speed mixer, gradually adding remaining water until smooth, uniform and lump-free.
Application

Applying LicaCem 200

Wet the substrate until saturated and in SSD conditions (Saturated Surface Dry) before applying. Do not apply to a surface with a film of standing water.

Apply 10–25 mm in a single coat — spray or apply by hand from bottom to top, straighten with an H-shaped striker or knife, and finish smooth. For thicknesses above 25 mm, allow at least 1 day before the next coat.

Scratch the surface 1.5–4 hours after application (depending on conditions) using a hard grout trowel — this is essential for any subsequent coat or finish system.

Reinforce joints between different elements with alkali-resistant fibreglass mesh embedded into the surface of the plaster to prevent cracking.
Do not apply to substrates with a film of surface water, completely dry substrates, or in extreme conditions (walls in full sun or frozen). Ambient, substrate and product temperature must be between +5°C and +35°C throughout. Protect fresh mortar from rapid drying, direct sunlight, strong wind and heavy rain for at least 24 hours.
