What is Isolante LG?

Isolante LG is Licata's top coat primer — applied directly to the substrate before the decorative render or coating is applied. Made with acrylic copolymers and inert silica materials, it is specifically designed for exterior use and is also suitable for interior applications.

Unlike Aggrappante LG which is a substrate primer applied before rendering to create grip on smooth surfaces, Isolante LG is a top coat primer applied before the decorative finish — its purpose is to level absorption, conceal flaws and existing colours, and improve the yield and surface effect of the micro-coating or paste coating applied over it.

Isolante LG is pigmentable — it can be tinted to match the shade of the subsequent decorative layer. This is particularly useful when painting over existing surfaces with medium or strong colours, where a white primer alone may not provide sufficient concealment.

Which primer do I need?

Aggrappante LG Applied to the substrate before rendering — creates grip on smooth surfaces and regulates absorption before render or skim coat systems.

Isolante LG Applied to the render basecoat before the decorative finish — levels absorption and conceals substrate flaws and colours before the final top coat.

How to apply Isolante LG top coat primer

Substrate preparation: Mechanically remove all flaking or peeling areas. Clean all surfaces thoroughly — free of dust, detergents, oil and grease. For substrates with evident chalking or old paint, clean thoroughly before applying the top coat primer.

Preparing the top coat primer: Isolante LG is ready to use. It can be diluted with up to 10% clean water and tinted to match the subsequent decorative coat. Mix for 2–3 minutes at low speed with a drill mixer before application.

Application: Apply by brush or roller in a single coat, ensuring 100% coverage of the surface. Do not apply by spray. Do not add any other materials to the top coat primer as this will alter its properties.

Overcoating: In ideal conditions, Isolante LG top coat primer is ready for the decorative coat after 1–2 hours at +20°C. In adverse conditions — strong wind, high temperatures — check that a surface film has not formed before applying the decorative finish.

Do not apply on wet surfaces or substrates with a film of water, or in extreme conditions such as direct strong sunlight or frost. Store buckets away from direct sunlight and above +5°C. Wash tools with water immediately after use.
