Features & Benefits

Why use Lica Armor 1000 waterproofing reinforcement fabric?

🏗️

Compatible with Cement, Polymer & Bitumen Systems

Unlike Texture 2000 which is designed specifically for solvent-based polyurethane systems, this waterproofing reinforcement fabric is compatible with the full range of waterproofing system types — cement, polymer and bitumen-based — making it the versatile choice for mixed or multi-system projects.

🧂

Alkali Resistant Polypropylene

The polypropylene microfibre construction of this waterproofing reinforcement fabric provides strong resistance to alkaline environments — essential for use within cementitious waterproofing systems where high pH levels would degrade other fabric types.

↔️

Exceptional Lateral Elasticity

120% lateral elongation before breaking — significantly higher than Texture 2000 — gives this waterproofing reinforcement fabric exceptional ability to accommodate lateral substrate movement, making it particularly suited to renovation and restoration applications.

💧

Also for Skim Coatings & Adhesives

Lica Armor 1000 waterproofing reinforcement fabric is not limited to waterproofing — it also reinforces self-levelling gypsum and cement skim coatings, and strengthens cement adhesive applications on damaged or unstable substrates.

🔬

Micro-Perforated for Total Embedding

The micro-perforated structure of this waterproofing reinforcement fabric allows the liquid or paste coating to pass through the fabric during application — ensuring total embedding within the coating rather than surface lamination.

Easy & Fast to Apply

The flexible, lightweight structure of this waterproofing reinforcement fabric makes it easy to position accurately and quickly — particularly valuable in renovation applications where speed matters and working conditions are often difficult.

Product Description

Lica Armor 1000 — Multi-System Waterproofing Reinforcement Fabric

Lica Armor 1000 is Licata's micro-perforated polypropylene waterproofing reinforcement fabric — a technological non-woven fabric manufactured from 80% polypropylene and 20% PP/PE with strong resistance to alkaline environments. It enhances the performance of waterproofing coatings in terms of elasticity, compactness, puncture resistance, elongation at break and crack bridging value.

The key advantage of this waterproofing reinforcement fabric over Texture 2000 is its versatility — while Texture 2000 is specifically designed for solvent-based polyurethane systems, Lica Armor 1000 is compatible with cement, polymer and bitumen-based waterproofing systems as well as skim coatings and cement adhesive reinforcement. The alkali-resistant polypropylene construction makes it stable within cementitious products where polyester fibres would degrade.

Lica Armor 1000 waterproofing reinforcement fabric can reinforce coatings at thicknesses from 1 to 5mm. Available in 1000mm and 200mm widths on 50m rolls. The 200mm width is ideal for joint reinforcement, transitions and connection details.

Used With
Hydro Monoelasto 100  ·  Hydro Osmo K  ·  Licalastic Scud  ·  Licalastic 150 PU  ·  Licalastic Svart  ·  Self-levelling skim coatings  ·  Cement adhesives on damaged substrates
Lica Armor 1000 vs Texture 2000 — which do I need?
Lica Armor 1000 Cement, polymer and bitumen-based waterproofing systems; skim coatings; adhesives. Polypropylene — alkali resistant.
Texture 2000 Solvent-based polyurethane resin systems only. Polyester — higher longitudinal tensile strength.
Applications

Where to use this waterproofing reinforcement fabric

Cementitious waterproofing reinforcement (Hydro Monoelasto 100, Hydro Osmo K)
Polymer-based waterproofing reinforcement (Licalastic Scud)
Bitumen-based waterproofing reinforcement (Licalastic Svart)
Self-levelling gypsum and cement skim coating reinforcement
Cement adhesive reinforcement on damaged substrates
Joints, transitions and connection detail reinforcement (200mm width)
Important Restrictions
Do not use on expansion joints. Do not apply in direct contact with the substrate — must always be embedded between two coats of the waterproofing product.

Substrate Preparation

Before applying the waterproofing reinforcement fabric

1
Clean the substrate: Remove all dust, oils, grease, rising damp, crumbling or inconsistent parts, and residues of cement, lime, paint and adhesive. The substrate must be completely clean before applying the waterproofing coating.
2
Substrate stability: The substrate must be dimensionally stable, non-deformable and fully cured — having completed hygrometric shrinkage. Do not apply this waterproofing reinforcement fabric to substrates that are still moving or drying.
3
Apply first coat of waterproofing product: Apply the Licata waterproofing coating (Hydro Monoelasto 100, Licalastic Scud, etc.) as a first coat onto the prepared substrate by brush, roller, airless spray or trowel.
Application

Embedding the waterproofing reinforcement fabric

1
Apply while first coat is fresh: Lay this waterproofing reinforcement fabric onto the first coat of waterproofing product while it is still wet. Do not allow the first coat to dry before placing the fabric.
2
Press in and embed: Spread the fabric and press firmly with a trowel or roller to ensure it fully adheres and embeds within the fresh coating. Remove any air pockets or wrinkles.
3
Overlaps: Overlap adjacent sheets by at least 5cm to ensure reinforcement continuity across the full surface area.
4
Self-levelling coatings: When used with self-levelling products, mechanically secure Lica Armor 1000 to the substrate before pouring — to prevent the fabric from floating as the product is applied.
5
Second coat: Once the first coat with fabric embedded has hardened, apply a second coat of the waterproofing product to fully cover the reinforcement fabric.
Never apply this waterproofing reinforcement fabric directly on the substrate or on expansion joints. It must always be embedded between two coats. Store rolls in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight above +5°C.
