Three-component solvent-free epoxy-cement coating — damp substrate specialist, EN 1504-2 certified, waterproof and vapour permeable

EpoxyCem TX A+B+C by Licata

EpoxyCem TX A+B+C is a solvent-free, three-component epoxy-cement coating from Licata — certified to UNI EN 1504-2 and specifically designed to cure on damp substrates up to 85% relative humidity. After 48 hours it forms a compact, waterproof yet vapour-permeable layer suitable to receive tiles, parquet, PVC, epoxy coatings, polyurethane and cement-based levelling compounds. Outstanding adhesion on concrete, stone, ceramic and porcelain. Effective from -35°C to +110°C.

Features & Benefits

Why specify EpoxyCem TX A+B+C?

💧

Damp Substrate Specialist — Up to 85% RH

EpoxyCem TX A+B+C is specifically designed to cure on damp surfaces — it can be applied on substrates with up to 85% relative humidity and up to 10% moisture content. This makes it the go-to primer and waterproofing coat where drying the substrate first is impractical or impossible.

🏅

UNI EN 1504-2 Certified

Certified to UNI EN 1504-2 for concrete protection — meeting the requirements for protection against ingress (PI 1.3), moisture control (MC 2.2) and increasing resistivity (IR 8.2). Suitable for specification on concrete repair and protection projects requiring EN 1504 compliance.

🌬️

Waterproof Yet Vapour Permeable

After full cure, EpoxyCem TX forms a layer that is impermeable to liquid water but permeable to water vapour — preventing liquid water ingress whilst allowing the substrate to breathe and residual moisture to escape over time.

🌡️

Extreme Temperature Range

Maintains mechanical strength and chemical resistance from -35°C to +110°C in air and up to +65°C in water — suitable for cold stores, process environments and structures subject to thermal cycling where standard coatings would fail.

💪

Outstanding Adhesion — >3.0 MPa

Direct traction adhesion exceeds 3.0 MPa (EN 1542) on concrete, natural stone, tiles, porcelain stoneware and marble — among the highest adhesion values in the Licata range. Also compatible with wet concrete at >3.5 MPa (EN 13578).

🔧

Multi-Use — Primer, Waterproofing and Skim Coat

Functions as a damp substrate primer, general concrete protection coating, waterproofing membrane, damp-proof treatment and — when combined with quartz sand — as a skim coating mortar. A single product covering multiple roles reduces system complexity.

Three-Component System

Understanding A + B + C

EpoxyCem TX is supplied as a pre-measured three-component kit — all three components are sized to be used together in their entirety. Do not split the pack or use partial quantities.

A
Component A — Epoxy Resin Base
Neutral coloured liquid. Density 1.66 ± 0.05 kg/L. Viscosity 12,000 ± 2,000 mPa·s. Added to Component B first.
B
Component B — Hardener
Neutral coloured liquid. Density 1.60 ± 0.05 kg/L. Viscosity 15,000 ± 3,000 mPa·s. Add Component A to this pot first.
C
Component C — Cementitious Powder
White powder. 8.14 kg PP bag. Added last to the A+B mixture whilst still mixing.
Mixing Order — Critical
1. Add all of Component A to Component B  ·  2. Mix at low speed (max 300 rpm) for 3 minutes  ·  3. Add Component C whilst mixing  ·  4. Mix until fully uniform  ·  Pot life: 40 minutes at 22°C
Main Areas of Use

Where to use EpoxyCem TX

Damp substrate primer and intermediate coat
General primer for concrete protection
Anchoring primer for self-levelling cement coatings
Treatment of old floors with excessive residual damp
Levelling skim coat (with quartz sand additive)
Direct damp-proof treatment
Waterproofing coating for pipes and concrete vats
Grouting joints
48 Hour Rule — Critical
No overcoating before 48 hours at ideal conditions (20°C, 60% RH) — always verify dryness with a hygrometer. In adverse conditions allow up to 6 days.

Preparation & Mixing

Preparing EpoxyCem TX

1
Substrate preparation: Remove all flaking, loose or peeling material. Remove free standing water from the substrate. Maximum substrate humidity 85% RH and 10% moisture content. Surfaces contaminated with oils, greases, wax or gypsum must be cleaned thoroughly.
2
Mixing — critical order: Add all of Component A to the pot containing Component B. Mix at low speed (max 300 rpm) with a dedicated anchor mixer for at least 3 minutes until smooth and lump-free. Then add all of Component C whilst still mixing until fully uniform.
3
Use the entire kit: EpoxyCem TX is pre-measured — all three components must be used together. Do not split the pack or use partial quantities. Pot life is 40 minutes at 22°C — plan accordingly.
Application

Applying EpoxyCem TX

1
Method — brush, trowel or airless: Apply by brush, trowel or airless spray (45/60:1 piston pumps, tungsten carbide nozzles 0.025–0.029", 250 bar pressure, diluted 5–10% water for spray).
2
Consumption rates: Even damp surfaces — one coat at 500 g/m² diluted 8–10%. Uneven surfaces — up to 1,500 g/m² with proportionally less water. Very damp surfaces — at least two coats at 500 g/m² per coat.
3
48 hour rule: Do not overcoat before 48 hours at ideal conditions (20°C, 60% RH). Always verify complete dryness with a hygrometer. In adverse conditions allow up to 6 days and apply additional coats if needed.
4
Clean tools immediately: Clean all tools with a suitable solvent while the mixture is still fresh. Once cured, EpoxyCem TX cannot be removed with solvent — tools left uncleaned will be permanently contaminated.
Pot life is 40 minutes — do not mix more than can be applied in this time. Never overcoat before 48 hours — always check with a hygrometer. Temperature must be between +5°C and +45°C. Clean tools with solvent immediately after use.
