Clay Acrylic Brick Slip
Licata Acrylic Brick slips have been used to finish interior and exterior walls. Many millions of square meters of façade have been finished using brick slips. Brick slips are ideal for façade cladding, in both technical and aesthetic sense. When brick slips are used in new builds or renovation projects, they are given a masonry look that cannot be distinguished from traditional brickwork. This means that the authentic value of buildings and neighborhoods is retained.
Installation
Please check the brick slips before installing (Correct color? Correct article? Color and size of corners and flats matching together?). The substrate should be clean, dust free, workable, solid and even. Any wallpaper or other residues should be removed before installing the brick slips. We recommend priming the substrate. Spread a suitable flexible adhesive with a toothed spreader by “buttering” both on the back of the slip and on the wall (“buttering-floating”). A string line will be helpful.
Press the brick slips into the adhesive bed with slightly sliding sideways movements, so that they are surrounded by the adhesive completely. Always mix the slips from several packages and several pallets.
If desired, grout traditionally with jointing iron and tiling grout after 24 hours. Always process horizontal and vertical joints together promptly.
Where Clay Brick Slips Can be Used
Clay acrylic brick slips are commonly used on residential and commercial façades where a traditional brick appearance is required without the weight of real brick. They can be applied to new build projects as well as refurbishment work, helping maintain the look of traditional brickwork across different property types.
Acrylic brick slip systems are suitable for use on prepared substrates that are clean, solid, and even. This makes them a practical option for walls where a full masonry build is not possible. They can be used as part of a complete brick slip system for façade cladding, allowing designers and contractors to create a consistent brick finish across large surfaces.
Brick slips are also suitable for feature walls and architectural details where a traditional brick look is needed. With matching corners and consistent vertical joints, the finished surface closely reflects traditional brickwork while supporting a lightweight build approach.
Practical Benefits of Acrylic Brick Slip Systems
Clay acrylic brick slip systems are designed to support both visual and practical project needs. Used across millions of square metres worldwide, brick slips offer a balance of appearance, durability, and controlled installation.
Key benefits of acrylic brick slip systems include:
- Lightweight construction: Acrylic brick slips reduce load on the wall compared to traditional brick, making them suitable for a wide range of substrates.
- Impact resistant surface: The system supports durability and long-term performance in exposed environments.
- Water repellent properties: When installed correctly, brick slips help protect the façade from weather exposure.
- Flexible installation process: Brick slips are installed using suitable adhesive, applied with a notched trowel for consistent spread and bond.
- Consistent finish: Matching slips and corners support clean joints and a professional brick finish across the surface.
Additionally, acrylic brick slip systems support controlled installation and design consistency. With a standard range of colours and finishes, they allow projects to match surrounding brickwork while keeping thickness and weight to a minimum.
