2. Can concrete render be applied in winter?

Applying render during winter is achievable if temperatures stay above 5°C with no frost risk during the cure period. Avoid wet weather or rain within 24 hours, as moisture affects drying time and bonding to the concrete substrate.

Clean the concrete thoroughly before brush application of the primer. Different types of concrete may require varying primer thickness or dilution with clean water. This preparation is critical for both internal and external walls and creates a suitable surface for the cement render layers that follow.

5. How long does the render take to dry completely?

Drying time varies by layer and weather conditions. Generally expect 24 hours between coats under normal conditions. The base coat layer with mesh requires 3-7 days. Thin coat renders dry faster than traditional thick applications, which is one advantage of modern render systems.

The final silicone or acrylic topcoat takes 24-48 hours to touch-dry but needs 7-14 days to fully cure and achieve maximum weather resistance. Never rush by applying the next coat too early, as proper curing creates a more durable, flexible finish for your property.
