The CUPACLAD® 101 LOGIC system is made up of 40×20 cm slates installed horizontally using invisible fixing systems.

The CUPACLAD® 101 series systems share a single fixing system with self-drilling screws specially designed by our engineers to ensure optimum slate rainscreen cladding installation, but remaining totally invisible to avoid impacting the design.

The screws are made from stainless steel and feature a large diameter flat head to ensure and facilitate proper fixing of the slate.

What can a natural slate façade can tell us about the supermarket inside? It often reflects the cleanliness and organisation inside, creates a welcoming and familiar environment for customers and symbolises the connection with local community.

The new Aldi supermarket in Truro meets all these qualities. Before making the choice to specify CUPACLAD, construction consultancy company Kendall Kingscott began a period of research about the possible façade materials.

The company was interested in our natural slate façades, and they requested a CPD presentation to their team. After getting to know CUPACLAD and its advantages firsthand, the decision was made immediately.

The team at Kendall Kingscott wanted to use natural slate for two reasons,” remembers Stuart Black, Technical Sales Manager for the Southwest.

“Firstly, hanging slate cladding is very popular in the local area so specifying this material would allow the store to blend in with some of the surrounding buildings. Secondly, natural slate scores highly when it comes to fire resistance.”

When customers approach the new supermarket they can see the big Aldi logo with a natural slate background, creating a good first impression. But is not just a matter of aesthetics, CUPACLAD is considered as an A1 non-combustible system, something to bear in mind when you want the highest level of safety.

The slate provides texture and uniformity to the building to the building frontage, which ties it to the local context”, explains architect James Stanfield from Kendall Kingscott. “CUPA PIZARRAS worked closely with our design team to produce a bespoke solution that provides a sharp and contemporary public facing façade”, insists.

We have a comprehensive team of professionals ready to advise you at every stage of the design and installation process, and this project was no exception. Stuart Black recommended the Logic system and was always available to answer any questions.

James Stanfield confirms: “We were very pleased with the finish provided by CUPACLAD 101 Logic and how CUPA PIZARRAS helped to deliver the project and fulfil the brief.”
